The Service Above Self Award is considered one of the highest honors that our club can bestow on a member. It recognizes one outstanding Rotarian each year whose service activities make a positive impact on our community and beyond.

Nomination process: Club members may nominate a candidate from our club using the nomination form below.  Nominations are sought in Sept. and accepted during Oct. 1-31 for the Dec. presentation.

Eligibility criteria: Nominees must be Rotarians in good standing. Nominees must have demonstrated continuing humanitarian service in any form and at any level. Emphasis is placed on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary rather than one’s performance in an elected or appointed Rotary assignment. Personal financial contributions to Rotary, its Foundation, or any individual project are very important but not relevant considerations for this award.  (These criteria were developed based on Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award criteria.)

Selection: All eligible nominations will be reviewed by a committee of the last three recipients of the award, meeting in early Nov. to make the selection (allowing time to get and prepare awards).

Award type: A Spirit of Service plaque (available through Rotary) and our club’s traveling Service Above Self Shovel with name plate.
